AO3 purity score meaning: what does your number say?
Your AO3 purity score is a playful measure of how many fanfiction and archive habits you recognized in yourself. It is not a moral rating, a fandom ranking or a diagnosis.
What does a high AO3 purity score mean?
A score around 80–100 usually means you checked relatively few statements. You may be new to AO3, read selectively or simply have not tried every trope and archive feature yet. It does not mean you are more innocent or a better reader.
What does a middle score like 60 mean?
Around 40–80, many people recognize a mix of reading habits, ships, tags and fandom routines. This is often the “I read a lot, but still have boundaries” range, although everyone’s answers are different.
What does a low AO3 score mean?
A score below 40 means you checked more of the quiz statements. You may write, bookmark, tag-filter, ship and explore more widely. It is a joke about archive experience, not a verdict on your taste.
Why can two people with the same score be different?
Every question has equal weight, so one person may score from reading habits while another gets there through writing, fandom events or unusual tropes. The number is a conversation starter, not a detailed profile.
A quick score guide
| Score | General meaning |
|---|---|
| 80–100 | New or selective archive reader |
| 40–79 | Regular reader with a mix of habits |
| 0–39 | Deep archive regular |
These ranges are playful, not a label. Your answers matter more than the number.
